Name: Megara (Meg) Ismene Kanellis l FC: Katie Mcgrath

It’s a mouthful, I know, but it’s the only name I’ve got.

Height: 5’8” l Weight: 137 lbs. l Age: 24 l Eye Color: Violet

I’m tall and I have curves. My eyes are purple. Deal with it.

Hobbies: Is shopping a hobby?

Dreams: Megara just wants everything to be normal. Her dreams really only consist of having a normal life without having to worry that the Lord of the Underworld will take interest in her again.

Fears: The Underworld and its God Hades are still in Megara’s nightmares and are still her worst fears. She will never admit it, but she also is afraid of death. After seeing what the Underworld is like in life, Megara can’t imagine spending the rest of eternity there.

Personality: Still as cynical, sarcastic, and fearless as they come, Megara makes a loyal (and amusing) friend once you get through to her. She may come off as a tease or seductive, but she is a very guarded person and it takes a lot to break through her many layers (which is much easier for women to do). Once she comes to care for someone it is almost second nature for Megara to feel the need to protect them however she can. She gave her life for both Hercules and Adonis, her boyfriend she sold her soul for, and if she comes to have such strong feelings once more she will do it again in a heartbeat.

History:

Before the movie: Megara is a native of a smaller, more rural area in Greece where her family owned a winery. This had always been the family business. Megara never had any siblings, so she was extremely close to her parents, especially her father. When her mother died, her father fell into a deep depression. Being that he rarely left his room until his own death, Megara was left to fend for herself at the age of 15. She took it upon herself to keep the winery going. Her father did little, causing her to forge papers, handle payments to the family’s workers, and to work hard herself in the field.

When her father died Megara decided she wanted more than to just live on the winery for the rest of her life. Megara left (leaving it in the care of one of the elderly workers, who still lives there today) and moved to Thebes. She made little money and barely covered the costs of simply living. At that point in her life she was 17 and Adonis Melas, a handsome young man that immediately had her full attention. Adonis was arrogant, obnoxious, and well aware of the wealth of his family that he hadn’t worked a day for. Upon first seeing Megara, Adonis knew that he wanted her to call his own. She was beautiful, and that was about as deep as he knew to look. Megara ended up falling hard for Adonis’ charm and attention. He was her first love, and she was certain that he’d be her last.

One day an enemy of Adonis’ father followed Adonis and Megara on one of their outings. When they were distant enough from Adonis’ home, the enemy stabbed Adonis and disappeared. Megara was terrified that she was going to lose the man she was determined to be with for the rest of her life. Knowing what this would mean, Megara called upon Hades, the Lord of the Dead, to make a deal and save Adonis. The only deal Hades would accept was Megara’s soul in exchange for Adonis’, so Megara accepted, hoping that for once Adonis would show her the love and appreciation she showed towards him and craved to feel herself. However, that dream ended when Adonis never visited and Hades revealed that he was seeing another woman. Megara was entirely broken and vowed to never give everything to a man ever again.

Four years Megara was in Hades’ enslavement, and none of these years Megara remembers pleasantly. She has many burn scars, mainly on her back, from times when Hades lost his temper. Megara has also killed in Hades’ name, and regrets the lives she took more than she can express, but as a slave to the Lord of the Dead, Megara had no choice in the matter.

This is where the events of the movie took place.

After the movie (AU): Megara’s heart was broken yet again by Hercules, who chose to live on Mount Olympus as a God. Even though she tries to convince herself that that’s where he belonged and it has been a few years, she still thinks about it often. She has taken up alcohol and is much more withdrawn than she has ever been when it comes to relationships (not friendships, mind you).

Relationships:

Hercules

Hades - Megara hates Hades for how he abused her, but also feels a strange connection to him. She sold her soul to him when she was 18 years of age and was not released until she was 22. Those are four years where she had no one but the lord of the dead to speak to, and she really hasn’t decided how she feels about that.

Cinderella - Cindy is Megara’s closest female friend as of yet after the two women met when Charming was possessed. Cindy is one of the few that Megara has explained part of her past to.

Gaston - Gaston is a man that has bought Meg a few drinks and who she has gone dancing with. His arrogance does nothing for her, but she finds him interesting to talk to and rather handsome as well.

Syndrome - Buddy Pine is who Megara knows Syndrome as. He is a fascinating character with money and power that draw Megara further and further to him. She finds him handsome, charming, and surprisingly somewhat like her in many ways. She considers him a very close friend.

Flynn Rider - Megara does not like Flynn Rider. She helped him find a place to stay one night and was rewarded by finding out Flynn was a thief and being accused of being involved in his crimes. Flynn and Meg are currently on the run together evading authorities in Greece, and Meg doesn’t like it one bit but he is kinda handsome.

Queen Marina - After a mishap in Corona where Megara was arrested, Marina and Meg met. The two independent women were wary of each other initially, but found they have common ground as well.
